Adult Education at First Presbyterian Church Adult Education

We never stop learning
and each of us is at a different place in our learning curve.
First Presbyterian Church on Orange Street has a wonderful history of Adult Education. The current program allows you, the learner, to discern what your needs are in the area of your own spiritual growth. Here are some of the opportunities for you to pursue.

Sundays at 9:30:
George Mann Class Adult Bible Study
Sundays, 9:30 a.m.
in the George Mann Room

Deep truth. Bold faith. Changed lives.
In this coed adult Bible study we will ponder our "Tradition and Wisdom" with studies in Proverbs and Matthew”. All adults are welcomed. The10:00am study is preceded by fellowship and music at 9:30 am.

The Gathering Class Contemporary Issues
9:30 a.m. in the Activities Room A lively adult study group

with different outstanding speakers who address tough contemporary topics. Some speakers come from Lancaster Theological Seminary; Others, many of whom are church members, are involved with projects inside and outside the church. There’s dialogue with these leaders who share their thoughts.


Weekdays:
Early Word & Morning Prayer in the Church Parlor Each Wednesday Morning

An early look at the biblical text which will be the focus of the sermon the following Sunday. Led by Parish Associate, Jack Houdeshel. Morning Prayer follows Early Word at 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel. This half-hour service includes singing, scripture reading and prayers for those in need in our congregation. Why not make Early Word a part of your spiritual discipline?

Women's Bible Study:Thursdays, 9:30-11:30
at the Parish Resource Center
Starts January 19

Featuring Beth Moore's newest study on the Book of James:

"What good is your faith? James forces us to face the implications of faith. Be inspired to put your faith into action in practical ways as you get to know both the man and the Book of James. Join Beth Moore as she explores such concepts as joy, hardship, faith, wisdom, single-mindedness, the tongue, humility, prayer, and more."

Exploring Contemplative Prayer: A Nine Month Journey to the Quiet
This course offered to the FPC community will introduce you to eight different prayer practices over the course of nine months. The course runs from September 2011 - May 2012, however, you may join at any time and do not need to start from the beginning.
